Authentic Italian Beef Braciole
Tender beef rolls stuffed with a flavorful filling, slowly simmered in a rich tomato sauce—this Italian classic is a true labor of love!
📝 Ingredients:
For the Braciole:
1.5 lbs beef top round (thinly sliced)
½ cup breadcrumbs
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
6 slices provolone cheese (optional)
Butcher’s twine or toothpicks
For the Tomato Sauce
tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 (14oz) can diced tomatoes
1 tsp dried basil
½ tsp red pepper flakes
Salt & black pepper to taste
📌 Instructions:
1️⃣ Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, oregano, and olive oil until combined.
2️⃣ Assemble the Braciole: Lay out the beef slices. Spread a thin layer of filling over each slice, then place a slice of provolone cheese (if using). Roll each slice tightly and secure with butcher’s twine or toothpicks.
3️⃣ Sear the Rolls: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef rolls until browned on all sides, then remove and set aside.
4️⃣ Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until soft. Add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
5️⃣ Simmer the Braciole: Return the beef rolls to the skillet, cover, and let simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, turning occasionally, until tender.
6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy: Remove the butcher’s twine or toothpicks, top with extra parsley, and serve with pasta or crusty bread.
